Doris Donohue Obituary

Doris Annie (Dieckmann) Donohue Doris Annie Donohue of Puyallup passed on December 17 at the age of 95. Doris was born in Chicago, Illinois to Leonard and Pearl Dieckmann. She was one of three children. Doris graduated high school in Chicago in 1940, then moved to Longview, Washington, where she attended Lower Columbia Junior College, majoring in journalism. She was employed by the Pacific Telephone company for 10 years. She married John Donohue in 1951. John was a WW ll, Honorably Discharged US Navy Veteran who earned the Good Conduct, WW ll Victory and Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medals. They had four children together, Jeff Donohue, married to Tammy Donohue, Gregory Donohue (died during childbirth), John Donohue, and Dianne Donohue Lundberg, married to Ed Lundberg. After the children grew up a bit, Doris was employed by the Boeing Company until the age of 65, working her way up to Buyer. She volunteered for United Way and the Special Olympics through the Boeing Company. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were always welcome at Doris and John's house. Fond memories include fishing in Clark's Creek, celebrating the holidays, and picking blueberries. Doris was a great cook and made the best fried chicken, apple and blueberry pies. After retirement, Doris worked on the Clark's Creek Restoration Project, raising concern over sediment and Elodea growth. She fell in the creek once when the boat she was riding in with surveyors overturned. She went to shore, climbed out, and walked to the nearest house to call for a ride home. That was Doris, brave and courageous! In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and painting. She loved to sit on the patio, which was thick every spring with colorful flowers. Doris has 7 grandchildren, Sarah (married to Robin), Yvonne (married to Bill), Ben (married to Danette), Jonathan (married to Emily), Ashleigh (married to Jim), Kerry and Sonya, as well as 6 great-grandchildren (Austin, Elizabeth, Zoey, Luke, Lauren, and Evelyn), and 4 step great-grandchildren (Tim, Allen, Kalina, and Lily). Services will be held Feb. 1 on Maui.
