My heartfelt condolences to his family and dear friends. Earl was my PhD advisor, and I'm grateful for all he taught me, and the unflagging support and encouragement he gave me for many years as both an undergrad and graduate student at the U.

I have many fond memories of Earl... A couple favorites are his reaction to my mistake asserting my VAXstation as the boot node for the MNHEP cluster, and his lecture showing how to work around divergences calculating the self-energy of an electron, the notes of which I still have.
