EDITH CHAMBERS Obituary

Edith Houston Brown Chambers December 5, 1948 -- June 25, 2017 Edith "Edee" Chambers died peacefully at her residence on June 25, 2017, in Bothell, Washington. She was born to Sam and Nathalie Brown in Longview, Washington, the second of their six children. She attended Annie Wright Seminary in Tacoma, Clover Park High in Lakewood, and St Mary's in the Mountains (Bethlehem, New Hampshire). Edee's great love and talent working with animals led her to volunteer many hours to local humane societies and Northwest Trek. She nearly always had a dog as a companion, tending them carefully and earning their love in return. Another of her loves was singing, and Edee's prodigious memory for lyrics and tunes stayed with her all her life. She was never without a song on her lips. At family gatherings, you would also want Edee sitting next to you because she knew the names of all the aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, in-laws, and out-laws cold, and most of their birthdays as well. She was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her siblings and their families: Laird and Corky Brown, Margie and Greg Berger, Sam Brown and Beverly Crockett, Tilly and Tom Miller, Henry and Debbie Brown, 16 nieces and nephews, and more than 20 grandnieces and nephews. Although she was married for only a brief time, she preferred to retain her married name, as a clear badge of independence. Edee's remains will be placed in the same columbarium as Nathalie and Sam at St. Mary's Church in Lakewood, Washington at a private memorial service on July 25. Gifts in remembrance of Edee would be welcomed at Northwest Trek (nwtrek.org), United Way (unitedway.org), Fish food banks (fishfoodbanks.org), and The Humane Society (humanesociety.org).

My sincere condolences to the family of Edee. RIP, Edee!

I met Edee at a facility in Lakewood (where I was a volunteer work study) when we were both juniors at Clover Park High School. She truly had a gentle soul.

Sam and Nathalie's parental support to Edee was exceptional. I admit, I wished I had parents like the Browns after seeing how they gave Edee loving care and encouragement.

Edee: I still remember how we would chat up a storm over a variety of subjects. You really knew your stuff! At times we would laugh so hard that we would start to cry. I always looked forward to our next encounter.

As they say, "you are in a better place" and in the presence of your loving parents. Rest well, dear Edee.

Friends always . . .
