Harry Winsor Obituary

Harry J. Winsor Age 88, passed away on January 18, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma, WA. Harry was born in Bremerton, WA on June 14, 1918, son of Thomas William and Grace Coder Winsor. He was a graduate of Bremerton HS and the University of Washington ('41). Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Gloria, by his three daughters, Christine, Gaye, and Margaret, their husbands Beck Zaratian, Tom Carroll, and Jay Hereford, by his granddaughter Elizabeth Winsor Hereford, and by his brother and lifelong friend, Dr. Gordon C. Winsor. In addition to his decades of service as an electrical engineer for Tacoma City Light, Harry taught electrical theory at Bates Vocational Technical School as well as numerous classes on religion, philosophy and politics at the Mason United Methodist Church, where he and his family have worshipped since 1948. Harry was a thoughtful man, a man of peace, and was an avid tennis player, playing well into his 80s (he was a veteran of numerous tennis and fencing tournaments). His many other family members and friends are too numerous to mention here, but he valued, respected and enjoyed them all. A memorial service for Harry will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary of Mason United Methodist Church, with a simple reception in the church hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a gift in Harry's name to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), in care of Mason United Methodist Church, 2710 North Madison St., Tacoma WA 98407.

My wonderful "Daddy". He was the sweetest, gentlest man to ever walk the face of the earth. I love him dearly. Mere words cannot describe just how much he will be missed. He was an amazing man and an inspiration in living for all. You really DID save the world Daddy--just by being you!
