Add to Dale's message in honor of Jim.
A priest, a minister, and a rabbi walked into a bar. The bartender looks up from washing the glasses and says, " What is this? Some kind of a joke?
Thank, Jimmy for all the times you made people laugh. It is a great tradition.

Dear Lin,
Although it has been many years, I remember you very fondly as a dear friend and co-worker, Lin. Please accept my heartfelt prayers for peace and healing for you and your family. I met Jim only a couple of times but it was certain that you two were a match made in Heaven. His search for a better climate lead him to a total, lifelong win with you.

So sad to hear of the loss of my colleague. Jim was the life of the group, easy to work with, always smiling and yes, of course, the laughs that made us all groan. You will be missed Jim and I will always remember you with fondness. My condolences to the family and all those whom Jim loved. This photo is from a DSHS, DASA All Staff meeting in 2005. Of course, Jim is the person with the biggest smile.

Jim had a Phd in puns and chocolate. Most every conversation with him included chuckles or moans as a result, and sharing dessert with him-- if not a flavor surprise-- was always a treat. HIs enjoyment at both delivering or consuming these with enthusiasm was part of his special charm. We so enjoyed our visits with Jim, not only anticipating his humor, but also the intelligence and insight he offered, generously tucked among his witty wordplays. That he cared about many and much kept him involved, helping, and social, and he encouraged our thinking. It has been a gift to know Jim over the last 40+ years. He has been one of the good guys in our lives and will be remembered with esteem and smiles. We send our condolences to Lin and the family and thank them for sharing Jim with us over the years. In his honor, we feel we must add it has been smooth, sweet, and a lot of pun to have known Jim Friedman. He will be missed.

Never saw Jim without his goofy often lame jokes. Always made me smile. My first adventure with him was a trip down the Deshutes river in Oregon with his then girlfriend, Lin and a river rafting friend of mine. What a trooper! He will be dearly missed. My thought are with Lin and his family

I met Jim in 1983 when I attended a class for displaced homemakers who needed to find work. He was always fun, sensitive, had intelligent answers, and thought outside the box. About 15 years later, I was working for the WSU Pierce County Extension and had the opportunity to work with his wife, Lin on the Pierce County Volunteer Brunch Committee. Never one to sit on the sidelines, Jim always helped behind the scenes of the event.
Sending caring thoughts to Lin in the rest of the family. He was truly an inspiration to many and a joy to be around.
