Seattle, Washington - Janet Augusta Dyckman, 86, long-time resident of Tacoma, died peacefully surrounded by family on April 10, 2021. She is proceeded in death by husband Doug Dyckman. They were married at St. Patricks Church in 1956 and married for 42 years. Both are now united in the loving hands of God with daughter Amy. Janet was born in 1934 in Spokane WA to Tom and Marie (Billie) Berry. She attended Clarkston High School and Washington State University where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She found nothing more rewarding than service to others and was a Board Member at L'Arche Tahoma Hope Community, past President of Catholic Woman's Club and a long serving member of Philamathea Society at Bellarmine Prep, Dr. Edward Rich Orthopedic Guild and NESIKA Club. They also enjoyed many years as members of Fircrest Golf & Country Club and Tacoma Lawn and Tennis Club. She was an avid traveler with Doug and her travel group and was particularly fond of their time in Hawaii. She was a gatherer of people and her home always had an open door. She reveled as Mrs. Pickering, hosting the family's Annual Pickering Passage Golf Tournament that ran for a very fun 25 years and co-hosted an Annual Christmas coffee for nearly 300 friends and neighbors. She loved playing bridge with her Bridge Club abd was also a die-hard WSU Cougar. She is survived by her children, Dan Dyckman, Curt Dyckman (Olga), Carla Hutton (Jim), Colleen Daniel (Travers) and Katie Fleming and 11 grandchildren; Christopher and Olivia Dyckman, Marley, Raleigh and McKenna Daniel, Ava and Jack Hutton, Julia, Jake, Will and Luke Fleming and Sister in Law Mary Kay Dyckman. Friends describe life with Janet as laughing, laughing and laughing. She will forever be in our hearts and memories with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Goodbye for now, Mom. Give Dad and Amy a kiss from us.

Sad to hear of her passing, though I know she was not well. Janet was a longstanding client at gene Juarez where I worked the desk for many years. Janet enjoyed reading her towne and country magazine with a cup market spice tea. She was easily my favorite client. Hilarious, witty and knew what she wanted. A great woman that left an imprint on me and helped teach me about true customer service. God bless her soul.

What I remember is how welcoming she always was! She was on our L'Arche board of directors and I met her shortly after arriving from Nova Scotia. She would always greet me with love thereafter, always remembering my name and asking how life was going. And yes, there was frequently laughter...being a L'Arche assistant and raising a family had common ground ! She was a LOVE, and I was blessed to know her! May all her dear ones feel her spirit forever close!♡
