Jeanne Pingrey Obituary

Jeanne Pingrey

January 14, 1956 - January 20, 2024

Chelan, Washington - Jeanne Pingrey passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2024, joining her beloved husband. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be deeply cherished by her family, friends, and students. Jeanne's selflessness and warm-hearted nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in Glens Falls, NY, to Walt and Rose Mattern, Jeanne met her high school sweetheart, Donald Pingrey, at Hudson Falls High School. Their love story endured for 48 years until his passing, just shy of celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Jeanne dedicated over 20 years of her life to teaching behaviorally challenged students at Rogers High School, affectionately known as "Mrs. P." to her students. Upon earning a Master's Degree in child development (W.S.U. and St. Martins), Jeanne's impact extended beyond the classroom, as she tirelessly worked to help her students graduate through the initiative of the innovative K.I.T.E. Program, which she developed using her expertise in child development.

As a devoted wife, mother of three, and grandmother of seven, Jeanne found joy in family gatherings, cheering on the Boston Celtics, and nurturing her students. She had a passion for crafting, especially creating elaborate Halloween costumes, and enjoyed simple pleasures like drawing, coloring, and solving puzzles, often with her feline companions adding to the challenge.

Jeanne is survived by her sons, Jason, Jamie and his wife, Kuilonni, and Christopher, along with her cherished grandchildren. She also leaves behind her two siblings, Jo Ellen and Butch, as well as her four beloved cats, Paris, Kitten, Boe and Ice.

Words cannot fully capture Jeanne's immense generosity and dedication to others. She will be remembered as an inspiring, patient and loving Nana, mother, and wife. Her absence leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled.

The family expresses gratitude to the city of Puyallup, Rogers High School, T.K. Bar and Grill, and the community of Chelan, WA for their support and love throughout the years spent with the Pingrey family.
