JOAN LANCASTER Obituary

Joan Marie Lancaster October 22, 1958 - July 13, 2015 Heaven received another angel. Joan peacefully passed away with her family aat her side. Joan was born in Seattle and made the PNW her home. She was a proud graduate of WSU and made her home with Lisa in Olympia. Joas was unselfish, giving, caring, loving and a side of stubborness. She played hard and lived well. You could find her cheering on the Cougars, Seahawks, and certain contestants on the reality shows she enjoyed. She had a very special spot in her heart for animals as well. Her surfing the internet landed their multitude of animals the best toys. Joan had many friends she could be found hanging with. She enjoyed camping, shopping for treasures, gambling, and most of all Scrabble with Lisa and her mom. She treasured life and encouraged those around her to do the same. Joan is survived by her very best friend, Lisa Brinker, her mother, Kay Lancaster, her aunt, Martha Kemp and cousins, Bill and Jim Kemp and family. Joan will join her father, Art Lancaster and Grandparents in a heavenly reunion. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to your favorite charity. Joan took care of my business accounting for over 17 years at Prime Locations. She always was so kind, considerate, patient, flexible, and caring. She understood and never judged my limitations and always did her best to accommodate my needs. She is irreplaceable and one of a kind. I miss her dear voice, smile, and friendly emails.

We have had a long time business relationship with Joan and as the years passed, she became a trusted friend. In our dealings with her, we found her to be efficient, honest, tolerant and kind... and every once in awhile, we got a glimpse of her wonderful sense of humor. We wish we would have had the chance to know her even more personally.

Joan, I've known you since the very beginning of 7th grade! We came in and out of each other's lives over the years, but I'm happy to say that we had come back together recently. Enjoyed our dinners with JoAnne, Beth and Andy and you will be very much missed when we gather again. We will miss you, my friend. Rest in peace.

I was fortunate enough to work with Joan the past 2.5 years. During that time, Joan was the first person I saw each weekday morning, and she was always there to greet me with a smile. She was a very kind person, always sharing with those that she loved and held close. I'll certainly miss her smile, her cheesy jokes, her hard work, her laughter, and lunchtime conversations with her. Thank you for being a kind person, and impacting those around you in a positive way Joan. Your legacy truly is one of kindness.

Oh Joan, you were always such a good friend to me. I cannot believe you are gone. We always had each other no matter how many changes came along. I knew you would always be there for me. My heart has been very sad this week. I take comfort in knowing that you are with your Dad. I know how you loved him so. I am glad there is no sickness where you are. I love you Joan.

I remember Joan from Interlake High School, we were tennis partners. In fact there's a picture of the two of us playing doubles in our 1975-Junior annual, page 136. We had lots of fun playing tennis together!
Rest Peacefully

Joan - You are one of my oldest and dearest friends. Even though we didn't see each other often, when we did connect, we'd pick up where we left off. You were "Auntie Joan" to Tom & Matt and there's a big hole in our lives with your passing. You never let me forget I am your much older friend. We love you and we won't forget you! Until we see each other again...

My dear old friend. I am so glad we got to meet up again after all these years. I will never forget our wonderful times together growing up on Marine View Circle. The best neighboorhood in the WORLD. You will always be in my memory.

"Time it was and what a time it was, it was
a time of innocence, a time of confidences.
Long ago, it must be, I have a photograph.
Preserve your memories - they're all that's left you."

Love you, Joanie. We had so many great times. Wherever you are (I suspect playing some card game with Art), I hope you can see and feel the love from all of your friends and family. Hang tight with everyone and we'll all see you again some day. And when we do, Roberta is right - no pain, no suffering, just a lot of light and laughs. You'll still be a little stinker, but you're OUR little stinker. ;)
Suffer no more. We are taking care of Lisa and your mom. It's time for you to really rest and breathe deep. Much love, Lori
