JOANNE GALLWAS

1948 - 2018

JoAnne V. Gallwas JoAnne Veronica Gallwas, beloved by all who knew her, passed away July 8, 2018. JoAnne was born February 24, 1948, and was the eldest of six siblings. She was an example to all of patient endurance, forgiveness, and love. Even as a very young child, JoAnne loved horses. She read about them, talked about them, drew them, and played with toy ones. Most of all she dreamed of owning one. Her dream came true, and she was blessed to own several throughout her life. Her happiest hours were spent trail riding with friends or family, enjoying God's beautiful world. JoAnne felt honored to work for St. Joseph Hospital and its affiliates for 44 years. She enjoyed her work and valued the many friendships she formed there. Preceded in death by her parents Bob and Veronica Gallwas, she is survived by her daughter Ginger Cupit (Tom), grandsons Aaron and Jacob, and siblings Patty Land (Jim), John (Kathy), Tom (Sue), Mary Rasmussen, and Ed. She was greatly loved by her many nieces and nephews, their spouses, and children. JoAnne also leaves behind countless friends who loved and supported her. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the many friends, care givers, hospice workers, and the staff at Good Samaritan Hospital who lovingly cared for her during her final weeks. Donations may be made in JoAnne's name to Nature Conservatory, Catholic Community Services, PKD Foundation, Visitation or Bellarmine Schools. Services will be held July 21st at St. John of the Woods Catholic Church, Tacoma. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM; Rosary 10:30 AM; Reception to follow. Private family graveside services to follow reception.
