He married Beverly Jean Lusk in 1955. After completing US military service he attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, graduating with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1959. Moving his young family to Seattle later that year, he completed his master's degree from the U of Washington in 1960. He was a Registered Land Surveyor and a Licensed Professional Engineer. Notable engineering projects include the Tacoma Dome, Seattle's Waterfront Center, Foss, South Kitsap and Auburn High Schools, among many, many other structures in the area. Skip's passion for his profession included activity with numerous professional societies. Helen, Lauri, Linn, We want to let you know that we were so honored that Helen & Skip came to our 50th anniversary last summer. Skip always made sure that when he passed this way that he stopped in and then when he could not travel our way he/we would call and the conversation always went on for at least an hour. We will really miss a great friend. Verneal & Terry

Helen, Lynn, Laurie & family-
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Uncle Skip was an amazing man - so intelligent and so easy to converse with. He always made you feel comfortable and always left you with a smile. It is with heavy heart that we say 'good-bye', but we are thankful he will no longer suffer. As others have said, it was so much fun to see the 3 brothers (Uncle Skip, Uncle Sid & Uncle Keith)together a couple of years ago -- we are so thankful for that time and the memories made. He will always be remembered.... Our love and prayers go out to each of you.

Bush family. I was enroute home from Texas when Terry called. I am so sorry and am sure you know that he was a great friend and cousin of ours. I think that he and Jim will be in deep conversation in Heaven, with a beer in hand. I so enjoyed our time togeter in S. Dak. last fall, and was so happy to think that Skip and Helen were able to make the party.

I will miss him - and pray for all of you in your healing.

Dear Helen and family, We wish we could be with you today as it was such a pleasure to have known Skip these last 25 years; we shared many stories and laughs. It amused us that we were born 21 days and 95 miles apart and both ended up in Tacoma. A subcription to South Dakota magazine from Skip was a thoughtful gift. He made such a huge difference in our community and was selfless in his commitment to the charities and organizations with which he worked. He will be remembered with great fondness.

Helen and the rest of Skip's family,

Skip was a special friend of our family starting at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology where he and my brother were classmates and fellow civil engineers. They have remained good friends through the years and I heard many stories about 'Skip' Bush. It was many years later, circa 1984 when I first personally met Skip at a Parkland-Spanaway Rotary Club meeting. It didn't take long to size up the club as an extension of Skip's fun loving, free wheeling, but goal oriented approach to most everything in life that is important. It has been a privilege to have known and worked with Skip. He is a man of many accomplishments.

Dear Helen,Lynn, Laurie and Family,

We were very sorry to hear about Uncle Skip's death. I will always remember the last time I saw him at Mom and Dad's house last fall. We had a great visit and I always looked forward to his visits to SD.
He was a wonderful Uncle to me and he was the inspiration for me to get involved in Rotary when we lived in Huron, SD. I have now been an active Rotarian for 10 years and will become the President of our local Alexandria, MN club this July. He shared many stories with me about his involvement in Rotary and he truly did put "Service above Self" in how he lived his life. I am thankful to have known him as well as I did considering how far away he lived.
We wish you all the best and God's healing during this difficult time. All our prayers and Deepest Sympathy.

Dear Helen, Laurie,Scott,Michael and Lynn,
Knowing Skip for 38 years, both on a professional level, and as a friend, has always been considered a privilege
by both of us.
From a professional standpoint, he always was concerned with working out the best solution for everyone. Whether he was doing Rotary projects, fishing, swapping berry plants, or just
plain sitting and talking about life, Skip always made it "good times". Those times with Skip will be missed.

Dear Lynn, Laurie, Helen and family,
I was sorry to hear of Uncle Skip's passing but grateful to know his suffering is over. I will remember him most for his diligent efforts to return to S.D. to maintain family ties and visit his beloved School of Mines. The most memorable trip was the one made with Keith and Sid two years ago. Dad was so happy to have them with us, and I was thankful to have that special time with my uncles. I was privileged to hear many stories and share many laughs, even a bit of boasting about who had had the most heart procedures. They told me it was the most time they'd ever spent together as brothers. And did they ever have quality time! I had a "date" with them one afternoon to watch "The Bucket List." It included a few naps, lots of laughs, and a considerable number of times I had to repeat lines from the movie due to the many hearing aides in the room. I was so blessed to share that time with them! God bless all the boys, but especially Uncle Skip as we remember his life and our presence in it.

I knew Skip for almost 50 years. We met at a convention for Community College engineering instructors in about 1962. Shortly thereafter, I was involved in forming a new engineering firm in Tacoma, and invited Skip to join us. He initially declined, but ultimately joined the firm and spent many years there, achieving the position of Chief Engineer.

Skip was an engineer's engineer. There was never a problem to solve that stymied him. He had the ability to make a complex problem simple, and to tutor less experienced engineers in their development.

I treasure my friendship and professional relationship with Skip and express my sympathy and condolence to his family and many friends and peers. He was my partner and friend.
