Louise James Obituary

Louise B James

December 28, 1929 - January 21, 2025

Roy, Washington - Louise B. James, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Roy, Washington, due to congestive heart failure. Born on December 28, 1929, Louise was the only daughter of John and Mary Baskett and grew up in Tacoma (Midland), Washington, alongside her two brothers, Ted and Lawrence.

Louise attended beauty school in Tacoma and went on to own and operate the Cut and Curl beauty shop in Roy for many years, where she became a cherished part of the community. As a young adult, she played competitive baseball and maintained an active and socially engaged lifestyle throughout her life. Known for her strong will, Louise married Sam James despite her mother's objections. Together, they raised three children: Rick, Wanda, and Gloria.

Widowed at the age of 48, Louise faced life's challenges with resilience and grace. She endured the heartbreak of losing her youngest daughter but continued to live independently well into her later years. Even at 95, she maintained her home, drove herself where she needed to go, and never experienced major illnesses or injuries that restricted her vibrant lifestyle.

Louise is survived by her son Rick James (Jan), daughter Wanda Christie (Michael), grandchildren Charlie Linman and Amber Parks, great-grandchildren Chandler and Calab Parks, nephews Ryan Baskett (Christie), Glen Baskett (Dolores), Kevin Baskett, and nieces Shelia Off (Doug) and Teressa Harkins (Ed). She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Baskett; brothers Ted (Evelyn) and Lawrence (Deloris) Baskett; husband Sam James; daughter Gloria Linman; and nephew Kent Baskett.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Fir Lane Memorial Park in Roy. Louise's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.

I have known Louise since I was 13 years I was her children's babysitter until they were old enough to be on their own. She was my best friend all these years and will be greatly missed. May God embrace you until we meet again I will forever hold you in my heart.
