Mom...
It's been a year and you are missed very much. So many things have happened over the year. We wish you were here so we could tell you all about them.

Möge Gott dich in seiner Hand halten.
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

While many grandmothers knit or bake cookies, my grandmother drove me to the tattoo shop to get my tongue pierced. While some grandmothers are content to let their later years dwindle, my grandmother told me she loved getting dirt under her fingernails. While some grandmothers have to be wheeled around, mine drove herself to visit us at the hospital when my daughter was born.
To my inspiration for old age, to the wisest sage I have ever met, rest in peace knowing that your spirit lives on in those around you that were touched by your presence.
Ich liebe dich, Oma.

Though we only knew each other for a short time, you made a huge impact on my life. I will never forget you. You were one spunky lady!

Remembering Louise...
I think of Louise as stout-hearted, bold, brave, kind, gentle, sweet, a little brash at times (it added to her unique personality) Louise was not intimated or easily swayed. She had convictions. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was an icon in the community, missed by many, I'm sure. A great gardener. I so admired her special plants and expertise. She enjoyed showing them. May heaven be blessed with another one of God's children, for all eternity.
