Mildred Cruz Obituary

Mildred (Carter) Cruz Affectionately known as "Millie", daughter of John and Theresa Wells, was born February 6, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee, then later raised in Toledo, Ohio by John and Wisteria Wells. As an adult she settled in Washington State, where she raised her children. She was employed by Safeway Corporation for 20 years where she met and later married the Love of her Life, Juan Cruz. Millie touched the lives of so many people with her beautiful smile, caring ways, and infectious laughter. She had the gift of making friends wherever she went. There was nothing she enjoyed more than preparing and sharing delicious meals with her family and friends. Never using a measuring cup or cookbook, her family favorites always turned out perfect! After a courageous bout with cancer, Millie departed this life on October 11, 2011 to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Left to cherish her precious memories are her mother Wisteria Wells, brother Jimmy Wells and wife Marian, children LaRoi, Keith and wife Barbara, Kevan and wife Bedez, Paula and husband Nerio, Paul, Phillip and wife Linda, and Lisa and husband Rod, grandchildren Wesley, Bill, Jason, Nicole, Kevan William, Stevan, Kennedy, and Garrett, great grandchildren Cameron, Caleb, Jason Carter, and a host of other relatives and very special friends. The viewing visitation will be Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Mountain View Funeral Home, located at 4100 Steilacoom Boulevard S.W., Lakewood, WA 98499, from 2:00- 9:00 PM. Her home-going service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 1:00PM at the First Baptist Church of Lakewood, 5400 112th Street S.W., Lakewood, WA 98499. The family requests that in lieu of gifts please donate to the American Cancer Society in her name.

The fun, warm, loving, exciting, vivacious Millie was a very special person in my life. She not only taught me about fashion and shopping, she also taught me a lot about life. Millie always kept her door open to me and my family and always welcomed new sheep into her fold. Condolences and blessings to her children during this time. God Bless, June

We loved Grandma Millie. She was the best neighbor to us in the Silvercrest Condo's neighborhood. She threw a baby shower for us (along with neighbor Mary) because my daughter was the first baby born in the neighborhood. She invited us to play on the family softball team too. We have very fond memories of Millie, Juan & the entire family.
Both Juan & Millie will forever be missed,
