MYRON DOXON Obituary

Myron Dale Doxon Age 97, of Auburn, died peacefully of natural causes in Bellevue on Dec. 8, 2013. Born in Algona on Feb. 25, 1916 to Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Doxon, he served voluntarily and with honor in the Air Force during World War II as a B-17 pilot and co-pilot. Later he was co-owner of Doxon Motors. He married Margaret Rasmussen on April 6, 1940 in Enumclaw. The couple spent 59 happy years together in Tacoma before her passing. Following her death he married Beverly Olson. A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was known to his Air Force crew and friends as "Doc" and to his grandchildren as "Kopaga." To those he met, he was the life of the party - quick with a smile, a ribald joke, and a hatred for an empty glass. He was a happy man who made others happy. Doc graduated from Auburn High School in 1934 and prior to joining the Air Force he worked for Northern Pacific Railroad. He flew more than 35 missions during World War II, and stayed in the reserves for 32 years. A man who lived life to the fullest, if it had wheels or sailed he wanted to race it. If it had wings, he wanted to fly it. He went to work each day into his 90s. In the winter he could usually be found working as the engineer on a small train on his daughter and son-in-law's Christmas tree farm. He loved Hawaiian sunsets, traveling the world, taking photos of interesting cloud formations over Mount Rainier, and Seahawk and Husky football. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club, a member of the Shriners, Daedalians, Quiet Birdmen, and a 32nd degree Freemason. He is survived by his daughter Laurie (Pat), grandchildren Laurie Ann (Phil), Kim, Patricia, Joseph (Andrea), great-grandchildren Rexine, Amelia, and Abigail, nephew Gary Doxon, great-nephew Mark Doxon, and niece and nephew Bill and Corinne Vetters. He was preceded in death by Margaret and Beverly, daughter Karen Margaret "Kim," and brother Ken. The memorial service is scheduled for 1pm on Jan. 11, 2014 at Price-Helton Funeral Home, 702 Auburn Way N, in Auburn. Memorial donations in Myron Doxon's name can be made to the 95th Bomb Group Memorial Association, or the Shriners' Children's Hospital.
