Robert Chabo Obituary

Robert James Chabo Say not in grief, "He is no more," but live in thankfulness that he was. Robert Chabo died quietly at his home in Edgewood, Washington, on February 9, 2007. He was born on June 6, 1924, to James and Hazel McClintock Chabo in Midwest, Wyoming and was the oldest of four children. Wyoming was always "home" to Bob and he enjoyed vacationing in the Big Horn Mountain area, attending the Midwest Days Picnic and playing golf with friends and family. Robert proudly served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Navy. During his distinguished career, he served aboard 10 battleships, three destroyers, and several repair ships. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was a Navy recruiter in Miles City, Montana when he met and married his wife of 42 years, Florence, who preceded him in death last year. He is survived by his son Max Chabo and wife Jan, daughter Valerie O'Neal and husband Bruce, grandchildren Max and Caitlin O'Neal, brother Dorsey Chabo, sister Nancy Hubatka, several nieces, nephews, and other beloved friends and family members. Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. There will be a celebration of his life in Buffalo, Wyoming, in July. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Hill Funeral Home in Puyallup, 253-845-1172.

Val,
You know that if I could I would be there by your side. We have that "special" link we both know is there. God will see you through this and you will be okay, but I do wish I could hug you and hold you and give you some "strength" that you will seem to need just as I did when I lost mom and dad. I love you.

I hadn't seen Bob for several years but I always had a soft spot in my heart for him. In my opinion he was a wonderful husband to Toots and a great father to Max and Val. He was also very good at piercing ears!!! He will be missed by all who knew him and my thoughts are with Max and Val today.

Hi guys! Just wanted to tell you I am sorry to hear about uncle Bob. Even though I didn't get to see him lots, I will miss him. He sure had a way of making people smile and bringing out the best in people. Braidyn still tries to copy his duck voice :). I hope you are hanging in there okay. I love you lots and wish you peace during this difficult time! Love, Haley

Max and Val...I was so sad to hear of your mom's passing last year, I worked with her for many years at the bank at 38th and Park, now, I am so sad to hear that you've lost your dad too, I can't imagine the pain you all must be going through, I do have to stop and smile, thinking of how much they loved each other, I will always remember, when it was time for your mom to head home from work, she'd call your dad and say "Hi, I'm leaving," and he'd hurry up and start dinner...that is true love...I hope you all can find some peace knowing that they are again together, having dinner...

It was an honor and a privilege to know Bob and we were blessed to have him as part of our family. He always tried to appear so gruff and onery, but he had a soft heart. The little ones would be scared when he first talked to them with his 'duck' voice, but then they would think it was funny, and he would have to talk to them in it again. He was a good father to Max and Val, and for that we will always be grateful to him. We will miss him alot.
