Robert Hickman Obituary

Gone Boating Robert "Bob" Hickman Took off on his final cruise on June 14, 2006. He was born in Bremerton to George and Vera Hickman on Aug. 18, 1941. He was preceded in death by his father and father-in-law. He was a lifelong resident of Lakebay. He operated Callison's brush shed for many years before turning to real estate development. He and Lois owned and operated Shorewood Real Estate until 1986 and Hickman Construction until illness forced his retirement. He was active in development of the Volunteer Park and contributions to Old Timer Days. Bob was a lifelong member of the Gig Harbor Eagles, Madrona Links Golf Course, and they belong to the Fox Island Yacht Club. Bob enjoyed fishing and camping in the Dosewallips area with his family and instilled a love of the Puget Sound and all it holds in his wife Lois and his children Kim Hickman, Ronni Crabtree (Steve), and Mike Hickman (Liz), all of Lakebay, and Lisa Bianco (Mike) of Anchorage, AK, surrogate daughter Mary VanHorn (Gary), Olalla, grandchildren Richard Sanders, Meriah Crabtree, Michael, Jeffrey and Codie Hickman. He is further survived by his mother, Vera Sample, brother Bill Hickman (Marlene), sisters Marjorie MacPhearson, all of Desert Hot Springs, and Janice Hedman of Palm Desert, many nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. A special thank you to niece Donna for her love and support. A Celebration of Life will be held TODAY at the Gig Harbor Eagles - Monday, June 19, 2006 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Franciscan Hospice at PO Box 2197, Tacoma, WA 98401.
