Steven Leonard Larson

Tacoma, Washington - Having lived a long and meaningful life, Steve Larson died on November 26, 2024.

Steve was born to Leonard O. and Violet E. C. (Peterson) Larson at Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 18, 1940. He was a graduate of Minneapolis South High (1958), the University of Minnesota (1961) and the University of Minnesota Law School (1964), where he was case editor of the Minnesota Law Review.

He married Lois Ann Rice of St. Paul, Minnesota in 1965.

He practiced law in Chicago, Illinois from 1964-1968, he taught law at the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York from 1968-1971; and he practiced law in Tacoma, Washington from 1971 until his retirement in 2013.

After retirement, Steve continued to serve the L.T. Murray Family as Executive Director of their family foundation.

Steve loved Tacoma and the Pacific Northwest. He was past president of the Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club, and served on the boards of Tacoma Actors Guild, Tacoma Art Museum and Tacoma Opera. He camped biked and travelled with Lois and his children. He gardened and played tennis and golf.

Steve was proud of having climbed Mt Rainer and having become a master at duplicate bridge. Steve considered himself blessed. He said many times that if he had his life to live over, he doubted he could make better choices, or have better luck.

He is survived by Lois, his loving wife of 59 years; his children, Michael (Joy Lin), Rebecca (John Edmiston), Gregory (Kellie Truesdale), and Richard (Katy Smith); six grandchildren Jazmine Spencer, Talia Edmiston, Erik Larson, Sloane and Elliott and Molly Larson; his sister Judith Pesonen and her husband Ralph of Austin Minnesota, a niece, a nephew, and cousins.
