STEVEN ORTON Obituary

Steven Michael Orton Went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2014 at the age of 68. After a 2 ½ year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, he passed away peacefully at home. Steve was born in Salt Lake City, UT on July 25, 1945 to Arthur and Joyce Orton. Steve is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy, his daughter Kathryn Howard and husband Scott, daughter Michele Heidorn and husband Randy McLeod, son Michael Orton and wife Betsy, and grandchildren Spencer, Jordan, Emily, Jacob, and Courtney, and step-grandchildren Chelsey, Aiden, and McKenzie. Steve was the 3rd of 8 children. Preceded in death by brothers Bentley and Dennis; survived by Emma Nancy, Pixie, Tracy, Threll, and Shaun, and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve had a 42-year career with the Xerox Corporation, which began in Salt Lake City and took him to Boise, ID, then ultimately to University Place in Washington State, where his family was raised. Steve and Nancy also resided in Highlands Ranch, CO for 5 years. Steve and Nancy returned to Washington State for the rest of his career. Retiring from Xerox and being the hard worker that he always was, Steve started a handyman service that he enjoyed to the end. He was able to fix anything, from cars to building decks to electrical work and plumbing. He was a master of many talents. His yard was always the envy of every neighborhood. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude and thanks for the wonderful care given by Dr. Picozzi and staff at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, WA, and Evergreen Health Hospice Services in Kirkland, WA. Steve was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be forever in our hearts. A celebration of Steve's life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 1:00 at Olympic View Baptist Church in University Place, WA 98466. My heart is so heavy w/ my sincerest sympathy to all of you. I remember him so well, the many times I slept over at the house w/ Michele and during those times, he was always busy doing one project or another. Very rarely did I ever see him sit down for more than a few minutes.

I will be attending the service on Saturday to celebrate his life and to be there to support all of you.

Please know I am thinking of all the family and am here if you need anything at all.

With much love,

Dawn Ross (Stewart)
