THERESA ZIMMERMAN Obituary

Theresa Lynn Zimmerman It is with great sadness that the family of Theresa "Terri" Lynn Zimmerman announce her passing. Theresa was born to William and Flora Zimmerman on January 19, 1953 in Tacoma, WA. She passed away February 24, 2018 in Spanaway, WA. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, William. Theresa treasured her children and grandchildren. She was the proud mother of Trisha (Shawn) Staiger and Chris (Stephanie) Newman, and grandmother to Taryn, Ryan, Chase, Sydney, and Beck. She is also survived by her loving mother and sisters. Theresa was a longtime resident of Spanaway, WA, where she attended Bethel High School. She loved her community and felt it was important to participate in local politics, attend jury duty, and support small businesses. She once even organized an Earth Day fair. After her children were grown, Theresa decided it was time to get a dog. Her heart fell for a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy. Over time, she had many faithful "Berner" companions, known as the Z boys (Zephyr, Zodiac, Zaltana, Zion, Zane, and Zed). She was devoted to her Z boys and to the Bernese Mountain Dog Clubs of America, Greater Seattle, and Oregon. Theresa had a lifelong love of gardening. After working at Boeing for 37 years, she retired and joined a garden club. Theresa spent the rest of her days tending her garden and enjoying time with family and friends. All would agree she was loyal and kind. She never missed an opportunity to send a birthday or sympathy card. She always had a great sense of humor, and was known for leaving sassy phone messages or hiding garden gnomes in the yards of loved ones. Her passing leaves an ache in the hearts of many. Blessed be the memory of Theresa Lynn Zimmerman. She will be forever loved and never forgotten. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 713 S. Hill Park Dr., Puyallup, WA 98373. Memorial donations in memory of Theresa may be made to the Berner-Garde Foundation at bernergarde.org.

I am so very sad and shocked at this loss. Though Terri and I did not see each other very often, we had a lot of fun with our dogs in the Washington Mixed Breed Dog Club back in the days when she had Kita and got Zephyr. Plus I knew her from work. I am very sorry I was not able to see her more often due to how far apart we lived from each other.

My heartfelt sympathies to Terri's family. It was way too soon to lose our close friend who was a caring and wonderful friend. She never missed the opportunity to send a card to help cheer you up or a card if I lost a dog. You will be truly missed. RIP my friend.

Terri's dog Zed was the father of my dog Zeke. We enjoyed our Bronco- Seahawk rivalry. She was so very much fun! I will miss her random phone calls, great laugh and wisdom. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

I thought Terri and I would be friends till we were 90. I'll miss our meals with friends and family, her random text messages and our political conversations. Most of all, her genuine concern for me and my family. Peace my friend!
