Timothy Coogan Obituary

Timothy Patrick Coogan
January 31, 1961 - April 12, 2023
Tacoma, Washington - Timothy Patrick Coogan, born on January 31, 1961, in Bethesda, Maryland, died Wednesday night, April 12th at home in Tacoma. Tim passed on to be embraced in the light of the Lord and reunited with his late father Pat.
Tim was a giant among men.
He faced life with courage and overcame many challenges after he tragically suffered a spinal injury in Hawaii resulting in paralysis at the age of 18. He fought to regain the use of his upper body, engaged in rehab, and attended the University of Washington for his undergraduate degree.
Tim never gave up on life.
After graduating from law school, Tim began his legal journey and over the decades he built a successful hometown practice and became an excellent litigator. While he may have been limited by his body, his intellect never failed him.
Tim attended mass at St Leo Church and graduated high school from Bellarmine.
Tim was very generous and would go out of his way to bring joy to others. Tim was a great organizer and very charismatic. He connected a lot of people. Tim loved UW Football and would organize away trips for his friends, featuring layovers in Reno, Lake Tahoe, or Vegas, because there was no other way to get there. He also had a passion for NASCAR and loved to attend races all over the U.S. Needless to say Tim loved to travel as much as possible which even included visiting Australia almost every Christmas.
Tim touched the lives of many people and will be missed by those who loved him.
Franca, his wife for the last 14 years, stood by him, comforted him, and brought joy to Tim's life. Franca and Tim loved each other dearly and when Tim started to face more serious health issues, Franca never left his side and was a fierce advocate for Tim. During these last few years, Franca dedicated her life to caring for Tim.
Tim is survived by his wife Franca, his mother Patty and siblings Teresa (Dave), Steve (Nancy), Tom, Peter, and Katy (John); his family in Australia: Catherine (Ken), Anna (Rob), Michael, and their children Stephanie, Luke, Alex, Julia, Angelique, and Pierre who loved him endlessly. Tim is also survived by his nieces and nephews Patrick (Teresa), Ryan (Kasi), Jordan, Shawn (Nick), Sam and Maddy.
It is with great sorrow that Tim's friends and family say farewell to a brave soul: May the Lord watch over you and embrace you in his warmth forever.
Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, 4/27 at 12:10 p.m., at St Leo Catholic Church.
Reception to follow at Fircrest Golf Club.

Wow what a shocker I found out by mistake but I am glad I didn't miss a chance to say my peace about Tim. I met Tim way back in the early 90s and he represented me while going through a pretty bad divorce and while that was a horrible time for me he still managed to always have me looking at the brighter side of the rough times, He was and will remain a good man and a good friend in my heart and my soul.
May God welcome you to his glorious Kingdom with open arms and say to you "Job well done My son".

Franca, Pat & family,
Thank you all for sharing Tim with the Manning family. We will remember all the great times forever, the "gambling trips", the "concerts", the "Nascar gatherings", the "suites at Caesars with caviar", the marafi 4000 t-shirts. Tim was blessed with a fighting spirit and smile ! The fight was contagious with Franca, the love of his life, who also showed that never give up attitude, by his side always. Thank you Franca for showing that beautiful love for Tim.
