VERA TAYLOR Obituary

Vera Evelyn (Love) Taylor April 13, 1919 - May 19, 2013 Vera was born in Harrison, Idaho, the second of three children of John and Cora Love. She celebrated her 94th birthday in April. Ve, as she was known by her friends and family, graduated from Orting High School in 1937. After graduation she attended business college, then worked as a secretary in Tacoma until her marriage in 1941 to her high school sweetheart, Murray (Dune) Taylor. They were married for sixty-one years, years which Vera always described as "perfect". The couple first lived in Allyn, Washington, where Murray taught in a one-room school. During World War II, as Murray entered the Air Force and began pilot training, Vera and the couple's infant daughter joined him at training bases throughout the Southwest. After the war, Murray's career evolved into serving in public school administration in Fife, Kennewick, Burlington, Aberdeen, Federal Way, and at the state level in Olympia. Vera greeted each move as a new adventure. Life was always an adventure. She especially loved traveling with Murray, golfing and playing pinochle with him and friends, and cherishing her family. "Ve and Dune" eventually retired to family property on Kamilche Point, between Olympia and Shelton, to a home overlooking Puget Sound. When Murray's health failed, the couple moved to gracious Olympics West Retirement Inn in Tumwater. Vera lived there, enjoying the company of many friends and a caring, compassionate staff, for the rest of her life. A beautiful and generous woman, Vera was always devoted to her family. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Pederson (Les), Gregory Taylor (Rachael), Scott Taylor (Vicki), and Todd Taylor (Edna); twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, with another due soon; and extended family. While her family greatly misses Mom/Grandma/Nana and the warmth of her amazing smile, there is comfort in the realization that this special lady and Dad/Grandpa/Papa are once again together on their grand, perfect adventure. A celebration of Vera's life will be held at 2:00 on July 6 at the home on Kamilche Point.

Vera was such a sweet lady, my husband grandma Dorris Fischer became friends with Vera at Olympics West. We loved it when we would go visit and Vera would come over to say hi. Now she is in heaven with our "ma" friends forever. We are so sorry for your loss...The Rhoades Family
