I attended plu from 1971 on, Walt was my drawing , painting and graphics professor, He had a major influence in my artwork, he was very respected by the best of students.. He was outspoken, opinionated, knowledgeable, and had a passion for modern art...I acquired one of his paintings... Contested Space...The drawing was shown At Tacoma Art Museum when I worked there. Truly will be missed , he was extraordinary ...

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Walt. He was my art teacher at PLU. I recently retired from a career as a stock broker, but I am returning now to art , my true passion. I have thought of Walt often on my new journey and still feel his guiding hand. My heartfelt condolences to Demi and family.

Just learned of his passing. I bought a Jaguar from him years ago and Walt was one of the nicest guys you would ever hope to meet. He made the world a better place. My condolences to his wife, friends, and family.

I was so sad to hear of Walt's passing and have been thinking of you almost every day since. I cannot image the grief you are suffering and can only send you my love and hope that you will be able to cherish the years of fun, laughter and love the two of you shared to help you get through this difficult time. Walt was one of the finest Art Professors I ever encountered in my university training. He would push you sometimes beyond comfort and other times had a gift of sharing his excitement and joy of a work you created and would instill the inspiration and passion of finding yourself through the process of creative, gut wrenching self awareness. I can say Walt was a major factor and force in my process that I respected, loved and struggled with all my life. I could never be as passionate about making art as Walt. I have a drawing I traded him for a piece of pottery he really liked. It is still an honor to look at it as I enter my sauna. I'm am a better person having known Walt Tomsic, my friend. May Peace surround you with unlimited canvases and buckets of oils! Happy trails, of gooey, goopy, sensuous paintings!
