Kevin Maxwell Sr. Obituary

Kevin Mitchell Maxwell Sr.,age 57, born on October 17, 1967, in the quaint town of Crawfordsville, Indiana, journeyed through life with a heart full of love and a spirit devoted to serving others. He departed this world unexpectedly on September 28, 2025, at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, Virginia, while passionately engaged in a mission trip, spreading the message of Jesus - a testament to his unwavering faith and dedication.

As a proud 1985 graduate of North Montgomery High School, Kevin laid the groundwork for a life committed to excellence and caring for his community. He embraced a career as a telecommunications business owner, becoming a respected figure in his field. But beyond his professional achievements, it was within the sacred walls of Cornerstone Community Church, where he faithfully worshipped for over twenty years, that he found his true calling - that of servant leadership.

Kevin was known for his boundless compassion; a man who loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart, always putting the needs of others before his own. Behind the scenes, he tirelessly worked to uplift those around him, pouring his energy into mission trips with Outreach Ministries Seymour, where he touched countless lives with his kindness.

The kitchen was his sanctuary, where the aromas of cube steak, chili, biscuits and gravy, and sloppy joes wafted through his home. His culinary talents brought joy and warmth to family gatherings, an expression of love that will be forever cherished by those who savored his meals. When he wasn't cooking, Kevin enjoyed the thrilling pursuit of golfing and the charming escape of video games, forging bonds with family and friends over shared laughter.

He was a devoted patriarch, leaving behind his beloved wife, Retha Neal Maxwell of Seymour, Indiana. Kevin's legacy continues through his cherished children: Kevin M. Maxwell Jr. of Wilmington, North Carolina; Sam Maxwell and his girlfriend Kayla Griffin of Seymour, Indiana; Riker Staples of Seymour, Indiana; Bri Blythe of Seymour, Indiana; Kaitlyn Hopkins of Salem, Indiana; Michaiah Maxwell and her boyfriend Dawson York of Columbus, Indiana; and Maelee Oakes and her fiance Christian Coker of Austin, Indiana. Nine grandchildren, with two more on the way, will carry forward his spirit and memory, reminding us all of his love and the impact of his life.

Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Maxwell, and his mother, Karen Kennedy Cagle, who undoubtedly watch over him now, proud of the man he became.

His visitation and funeral service will take place on October 12, 2025, at Cornerstone Community Church in Seymour, Indiana. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation starting at 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM.

In every story shared and every memory recalled, Kevin Mitchell Maxwell Sr. will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A light has dimmed, but the love he spread through his life will continue to illuminate the way for many, an eternal flame in our hearts.
