Randy Hooker Obituary

Randy L. Hooker, 56, of Columbus and formerly of Seymour, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Hooker was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a maintenance worker. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, and the North American Fishing Club. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed gardening, leather crafts, American Indian culture and spending time with his dog.
Born Oct. 30, 1954, in Seymour, he was the son of Carl O. and Patricia A. Burtron Hooker.
Survivors include his mother, Patricia Cornwell, Illinois; children, Sgt. Randy L. (Lillian) Hooker II, Lawton, Okla., Amy Poindexter, Carthage, Texas, and Daniel (Virginia) Poindexter, Plano, Texas; three grandchildren; stepmother, Ila Mae Hooker, Columbus; sisters, Carmen (Nolan) Herkamp, Seymour, Margaret (Hhaji) Ghafoor, Evansville, and Beth (John) Prather, Illinois; brothers, Carl L. Hooker, Columbus, and Curtis (Jennifer) Hooker, Los Angeles; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Kevin Meek.
Pastor Stephen Wood will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, New Church Fund.
Arrangements are being handled by Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home in Columbus.
