Travis Hooker

Travis "Coach Hook" Hooker, 46, passed away at his home on March 15, 2026.

A lifelong resident of Bristol, Virginia, Travis dedicated his life to teaching, coaching, and investing in the lives of young people. For the past 20 years, he served as a teacher at Lebanon High School, where he became a beloved mentor to countless students. Known affectionately as "Coach Hook," he coached cross country, track, basketball, and had many accomplishments throughout his coaching and teaching career. Travis truly loved coaching and took great pride in encouraging and guiding his athletes both on and off the field. His impact reached far beyond sports, as he genuinely cared for every student he encountered.

In addition to his work in education, Travis worked at The Olde Farm for the past 10 years, where he formed many meaningful friendships and was well known for his friendly personality and welcoming spirit. Whether at school, on the field, or at work, Travis had a gift for connecting with people and making them feel valued.

Travis was known for his loyalty, his kind heart, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Hooker; his sister, Stephanie Cox, and her husband Dustin; his nephews Tyler Sheets and Gavin Sheets; and his niece Ella Cox, all of whom he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, General, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, colleagues, and friends.

Travis shared a special lifelong friendship with Sammy Campbell, Brandon Owens, John Watkinson, Adam Moore and Jeff Hubbard who remained close to him throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Barry Lynn Hooker.

Travis will be remembered for his kind heart, his big smile, his dedication to his students and athletes, and the lasting legacy he leaves in the community he loved so much.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Travis Hooker Memorial Scholarship at Lebanon High School.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, in the little theater at Lebanon High School.

The family will receive friends after 4:30 p.m. until the time of service.
