William "Bill" A. Ferguson, age 82, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Ferguson was baptized in Christ at Pleasant Grove Christian Church and later confirmed in his faith at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown. For 33 years, he and his wife were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour, where he served as an Elder and on various church boards. He was also active in the Men's Bible study group.
Bill served as a dedicated commodity manager at Cummins Engine Company, retiring after 40 years of loyal service.
Showing and trail riding his American Quarter Horses brought Bill much joy. He was equally passionate about restoring his 1967 Mustang, an endeavor that was especially meaningful to him.
Bill's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He especially treasured watching his grandchildren's sporting events and traveling with both family and friends.
Bill was known for his warm personality. He truly never met a stranger and became a friend to many. He deeply appreciated his close friends and cherished the time he spent with them.
Born on October 11, 1943, in Seymour, Bill was the son of James Henry "Jake" and Blanche (Hutchings) Ferguson, both of whom preceded him in death. On October 24, 1964, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown, he married Patricia "Pat" Darlage, and she survives in Seymour.
Survivors also include one son, William J. (Jo) Ferguson of Seymour; one daughter, Tracey S. (Bob) Brown of Seymour; one sister, Charlene Roberts of Brownstown; four grandchildren: Alexis Anders (Jaiden Blair), Kennedi (Scotty) Scales, Joey (Megan) Adkins, and Rachel Adkins (fiance Luke Riley); one great-granddaughter, Kailee Cutter Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was also preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Beth Ann Ferguson; an unborn grandchild; grandson, Holden Brown; siblings: Jeanie Gibby, Janet McKinney, James "Jim" Ferguson, Donna Wilson, Marleen Charles, and Linda Horton; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer "Doc" and Lillian Darlage.
Funeral services for William "Bill" A. Ferguson will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Seymour. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Seymour.
Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church - Pew Cushions Fund or
Alzheimer's Association.
