Alberta Gay Obituary

GAY - Mrs. Alberta Peeples Gay, 92, of Kingsland, passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 27, 2023.
Alberta was a Camden County native. She was born Jan. 26, 1931, to Albert and Clifford Peeples. She married Kenneth Gay on July 15, 1950, in Nahunta, Ga., and they were happily married for 73 years.
Alberta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was affectionately known as Nandy to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and took great pride in growing plants and flowers, especially camellias and hydrangeas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsland and was a faithful servant of the Lord.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Gay of Woodbine, Ga.; son, Ken (Shelia) Gay of Hickox, Ga.; daughter, Gennie Salter of Woodbine, Ga.; sister, Delores (Edward) McCollough of Woodbine; grandchildren, Nicole James of Woodbine, Ga., and Chris Gay, Kent Salter and Ashley Gay, all of Kingsland, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Haley, Madison, Abigail and Cole Gay, and Caroline, Riley and Courtney Brannen; great-great grandchildren, Addison, John and Ani; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Alberta is preceded in death by her brother, Jack Peeples; sister-in-law, Shirley Peeples; and son-in-law, John Salter.
She was a very kind and loving person, a wonderful caregiver, and will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew her.
Funeral Services were held privately by the family in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ga.
Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland, Ga., is entrusted with Mrs. Gay's arrangements.
