Ida Smith Obituary

SMITH - Ida Bell Smith was born Jan. 11, 1944, in White Oak, Ga., to Lou Ida Smith, who preceded her in death. She attended the public schools of Camden County and graduated from Ralph J. Bunche High School. She was a faithful member of Jerusalem No. 1 Baptist Church, where she served as mother of the church until her health failed.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Alonza Odell Smith; father, Alonza (Nora) Gibbs of White Oak, Ga.; three brothers, Darnell Dallas of Woodbine, Ga., Kenneth Dallas of Alaska and Anthony Melton of Jacksonville, Fla.; five sisters, Liddie Paige and Naomi Hall of Waycross, Ga., Linda Thompson and Joyce Dallas of Kingsland, Ga., and Loretta Maddox of Atlanta, Ga.; devoted aunt, Emma Gibbs of Woodbine, Ga.; one uncle, Leroy Gibbs of New Jersey; two close cousins, Leroy Holmes and Karen Edwards; dear friend, Doris Wilson; host of grandnieces, great-grands and great-great-grand-nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Oak Hill Cemetery, 3-R Fish Camp Road in White Oak, Ga. There will be no wake.
Sunset Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
