Richard Barlow Obituary
Rick was born Jan. 1, 1957, in Jacksonville, Fla., as the middle child of the late Winston Barlow Sr. and Elizabeth Sanderson Barlow.
Rick will be remembered for his infectious smile and his gift of gab, including his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone … anytime … anywhere. He never met a stranger. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. Rick was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone who was in need. Most importantly, Rick loved his family.
Rick attended Valdosta State College and was later employed by Gilman Paper Company initially as a tour foreman in the pulp mill and later a supervisor in the Woodyard until its closure in 2002. Rick then became a self-employed entrepreneur in the Camden County, Georgia, area until he was unable to work for medical reasons. During recent years, he was under the loving care of his mother and sister, Rhonda Barlow.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Laura Deeb (Michael) of Chamblee, Ga.; grandchildren, Carter Deeb and Emilia Deeb, also of Chamblee; mother, Elizabeth Barlow of Kingsland, Ga.; brother, Winston Barlow (Judy) of Gassaway, W.Va.; and sister, Rhonda (Matt) of Archer, Fla. He leaves behind numerous loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are Mutt Daniel, James Durden, Curtis Gowen, Brian Huling, Terry Stover and William Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Palmer, Kevin Crosier, John Herring, Richard Bennett, Mike Barlow, Pete Mizell, Gerald Tanner and Valdosta Delta Chi Fraternity brothers.
In lieu of flowers, Rick's family requests that donations be made to Ann's House, 4407 Millwood Road, Spring Hill, FL 34608. Contact information is [email protected] or 352-206-1653.
Graveside funeral services will be noon Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ga., with Rodney Pierce officiating.
Allison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
