Richard A. Lavoie

LAVOIE - Richard A. Lavoie, 85, of Woodbine, Ga., passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
Richard was a devoted husband and father. He was a happy grandpa to his granddaughters, Jadyn and Emma. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. Fishing was his second love only to his wife, Millie. He was a hard-working man who enjoyed the outdoors and doing home repairs. He worked as a master machinist at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Born in Van Buren, Maine, he lived and worked in Pennsylvania before retiring to Woodbine, Ga., in 2002. One of his favorite treats was going to Steffen's Restaurant for the old-fashioned banana split. The waitress there was always smiling and made a huge banana split for him. I thought I'd never see him finish it, and he always proved them wrong.
Richard is predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Millie Lavoie; parents, Stanislas and Alice Lavoie; brothers, Raymond Lavoie and Reno Lavoie; and sisters, Roland Stiener, Marlene Naudzius, Claudette Siros and Linda Gagnon.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Sue Mumford; son, Richard William Lavoie (Brigit); granddaughters, Jadyn Marie Lavoie and Emma Rose Lavoie; brother, Madore Lavoie (Donna); sisters, Simone Giangiordano (Bernie) and Georgine LeMay; numerous nieces and nephews; and best little companion, Trixie, his little Chihuahua.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at Allison Memorial Chapel. 
A private burial will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
