Robert Earl Phelps, 69 of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Benton, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Born Saturday, March 13, 1954 in Benton, he was the son of the late William Jesse Phelps and the late Imogene Claudine (Powell) Phelps.
Before retiring, Robert was a manager at Vulcan Materials. He was a member of Embry Hills Church of Christ in Georgia and served as an elder for several years at Fairdealing Church of Christ. He was also the chairman of the Board for the Fairdealing-Olive Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy (Wilkins) Phelps; son, Shane Phelps of Houston, Texas; daughter, Robin Barnes husband Ivey of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Richard Phelps of Mayfield, Roger Phelps of Gilbertsville; and sister, Shirley Morris of Murray.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Snow; and sisters, Louise Millsaps, Betty Compton, Barbara Powell, Billie Jo Brown and Patsey Grissom.
A Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024; at Collier Funeral Home, located at 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025 with Cory Westerfield officiating.
Interment will follow the service in Fairdealing Cemetery, Benton.
