Agnes 'Aggie' Merrill, 80, of Kennewick, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.
She was born April 17, 1922 in Malden, Massachusetts, and had lived in the Tri-Cities since 1948.
Aggie was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and baking. Her family and friends always told her she baked the best chocolate chip cookies in the world.
She also made a mean glass of lemonade her secret being to use hot water when mixing the sugar, lemons and water and then let it get cold!
After graduating from Malden High School, she worked at JP Hoods (a deli). Here she met and became friends with General George S. Patton and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cabot Lodge, and Joseph P. and Rose Kennedy.
She belonged to the Rambling Rovers in Richland. She was their Sunshine Lady who took care of sending cards to all the members and organized various activities.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Jennie Merrill of Oak Harbor, Wa; daughter, Pat Davis of Richland; grandchildren, Tony, Michael, Kevin of Oak Harbor and Shelly of Georgia, and Amy Davis of Richland; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Justin and Christina of Georgia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shirley and Bob Tate of Beverly, MA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Merrill and her brother, James Kerr.
At her request there will be no funeral or services.
