Alvin Hageman Obituary

Alvin "Al" Hageman
October 3, 1931 - July 13, 2022
Pasco, Washington - Alvin was born October 3, 1931, to George M. and Louise J. Hageman in Platte Center, Nebraska. In 1936, during the Depression and drought, they relocated to Oregon where relatives had settled earlier.
Alvin attended grade school in the one room school of Bethel, east of Salem. He attended Salem Senior High School. After graduation he worked various jobs, until in January of 1951 he enlisted for four years in the United States Air Force. After eight months of schooling, he was sent to Korea where he worked on the flight line, assigned as an armorment technician on an F-80 Fighter Bomber. After Korea he returned to the States for the remainder of his enlistment, being honorably discharged in December of 1954.
He worked at Road Construction, Petroleum Sales and Delivery, A1 technician for Oregon Dairy Breeders. In 1960 he moved to Block 16 of the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project. He built a dairy herd of Jersey cows. After a few years he dispersed the dairy and left the farm.
Alvin married Mary Buroker- who had two children, Jerome, and Debra. Al and Mary were married 49 years until her death in 2016.
For 24 years he worked as a quality control radiography technician for Exxon Nuclear and Siemens Corporation in the nuclear fuels production for different reactors around the world. He retired in 1996.
He loved the outdoors, enjoying all the great things of nature, especially fishing and his backyard. One of his greater likings was to hear people tell their life story of dirt-poor beginnings and how success was attained. He admired the fact that they were still themselves when they arrived at their place at the top.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents, two brothers and a sister.
He is survived by two stepchildren, Debra L. Rothstein, and Jerome Buroker; granddaughter, Sari Ericksen, and husband David; two great grandsons, Tobias, and Pryor Ericksen in California; sister, Janis Willett of Salem, Oregon; and nieces and nephews and their children.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything: they just make the best of everything that comes along their way.
A service of Remembrance will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 11:00am at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court St. in Pasco WA. Inurnment with military honors will follow at City View Cemetery.
