Spokane, Washington - Christian Roland "Chris" Larsen was born to Christian Sixtus Larsen, and Marie (Jensen) Larsen on December 11 th , 1934, in Odessa, WA. He was the youngest of seven children and was raised on a farm near Wilson Creek, WA. He graduated from Wilson Creek High School in 1953. He attended Washington State College graduating in 1957 with a degree in agriculture. In 1956 he married Phyllis Frick of Marlin, WA. Chris was also enrolled in ROTC and entered the US Army after graduation. After his active duty service Chris returned to farm near Marlin, WA. During this time Chris continued in the US Army Reserves and received an honorable discharge having achieved the rank of captain. In 1970 Chris changed careers to work as a loan officer, working first in Pasco, WA, and then Othello, WA. He retired from the bank of Whitman at the age of 68. For several more years Chris and Phyllis continued to live in Othello, but eventually moved to Spokane, WA.
In addition to raising five children Chris and Phyllis provided a home to a foster daughter, two foreign exchange students, and finally a high school student allowing him to complete his high school studies at Kamiakin High School.
Chris passed away on January 15, 2023. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, two sisters-in-law, five children and their spouses, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 21 st , at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 4320 S Conklin St, Spokane, WA 99203. Viewing will be from 10:15 to 10:45 AM.
Burial will be at the Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, WA Monday, January 23 rd . Viewing will be at 12:30 PM. Burial service will be at 1:00 PM.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Lions Clubs International, or a charity of your choice.
