Cindi Carrell Obituary
Cindi Carrell
February 2, 1961 - October 16, 2023
Benton City, Washington - Cindi Carrell, age 62, passed away on October 16, 2023 at home following a short but intense battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was born to Charles and Dawn Carrell in Portland, Oregon. Cindi graduated from Oregon City High School in 1979. She received an AAS from Clark College, a BS from Graceland University and a MBA from Western Governors University. She married Rick Resto in Costa Rica on November 4, 2004. Cindi was an amazing and devoted wife and partner to Rick, mom to Tasha and Kendra and grammy to Laurel and Dunca.
Most important to Cindi was her deep faith that was at the center of her life, modeling the love and grace of Jesus. Because of this, she embraced those around her with open arms, walking with them through the joys and difficulties in their world. Her generosity, hospitality, and authenticity in relationships left a beautiful lasting legacy of God's heart for all. Cindi and Rick attended Crossview Community Church in Kennewick from the time they retired to the Tri-Cities, where she continued to positively impact others, far beyond what she ever realized.
Cindi was a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse for over 30 years. During that time, she practiced her profession at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and Virginia Mason Medical Center, where she retired in 2021. She combined her love of nursing with her service in the Air National Guard, where she retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after a career of nearly 30 years. During her time of service in the Air National Guard, she was particularly proud of the humanitarian missions she participated in, including medical missions to Belize, Honduras, Guam, Panama and for hurricane Katrina relief. She also provided decades long nursing support at Camp Rosenbaum, a camp whose mission is to provide life-enhancing opportunities for low-income young people through mentoring, camp, and athletic programs.
Much of Cindi's life involved her love of travel and adventure. During the 20 years she and Rick were together, they traveled to many fun and interesting locations, including attending the Olympics in Greece, visiting Italy, Thailand, Vietnam, Venezuela, France and other countries, too many to list.
Another aspect of Cindi's life involved horses. Cindi owned many horses over the years and enjoyed competing in equestrian competitions. She most loved three-day eventing, where her love of horses could be combined with her love of people, resulting in countless friendships she developed over the years in this sport.
Cindi is survived by her loving husband Rick Resto, children Tasha Rauls (Marcus) and Kendra Maheras (Steve), and her grandchildren Laurel Sauvageau and Duncan Schwebel. She is further survived by her mother, Dawn Carrell, sisters Mikki Proffitt and Sandi Franklin and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Charles Carrell.
A memorial service will be held at Crossview Community Church, 540 N Colorado St, Kennewick, WA 99336 on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10:00 AM.
