Corlee Poppert Obituary
April 16, 1936 - December 10, 2023
Portland, Oregon - It with with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Corlee "Corky" Ann Poppert, née Williams of Portland, Oregon on December 10th, 2023 at the age of 87.
She is survived by her children Clay Poppert and his wife Kimberly, Mona Whited and her husband Jeff; grandchildren: Nathan Leitz, Brandon Poppert and his wife Caitlin, Tyler Whited and his wife Analisa, Lis Harmegnies and her husband AJ; great grandchildren: Jaxon, Beau, and Reagan; sisters: Lee Hebbeler and Dorene Milam.
She was preceded in death by her husband Claris Poppert, her son Keith Poppert, her parents Archie and Dorothy Williams, and her brother Gale Williams.
She grew up in Tri-Cities, WA and graduated from Columbia High School in 1954. She was a cheerleader and in the Rainbow Girls Club. She graduated from Providence Nursing School in 1957. She continued her education and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts at Lindfield College in 1978.
Claris and Corky eloped on June 15, 1957. They renewed their vows in a formal wedding ceremony on their tenth anniversary.
Corky worked as a nurse for 10 years at Salem Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran and St. Andrew Lutheran Churches in Beaverton, Oregon. She, and her husband Claris, were instrumental in building expansions and organ purchases for both churches. She served as President of Lutheran Family Services and was a member of OMSI's J.C. Stevens Legacy Society.
Corky was an accomplished pianist. She enjoyed skiing and playing golf with her family. She showed her love by cooking and hosting many dinners for friends and family. She was fond of playing dice and card games. Corky and Claris enjoyed traveling extensively, making friends along the way.
A celebration of life for Corky will be held on January 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 12405 SW Butner Road, Beaverton OR. 97005.
