DANIEL JAMES GABICA Daniel James Gabica, age 36, of Richland, WA died on May 29, 2016 near Pomeroy in the Umatilla National Forest. He was born February 26, 1980 in Reno, Nevada to parents Joe and Ann Gabica. He has lived in the Tri-Cities for five years. Dan attended the University of Nevada, Reno and got a degree in business. He worked as a Quality Assurance Manager for Charter Communications. Dan enjoyed camping, fishing, running, hiking, boating, watching sports (USC Trojans, University of Nevada Wolf Pack, New Orleans Saints and SF Giants), and any activity including his children. He enjoyed playing and coaching soccer. Daniel is survived by his children, Byron (18) and Jillian (7); mother of his children, Alissa; parents Joe and Ann Gabica; brother Chris Gabica (wife Kristin); nieces Natalie and Samantha Gabica; best friend and partner Traci Linstrum; grandmothers Mary Lamont and Joyce Blick (husband Tom); aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandfathers Raymond Gabica, Sr. (paternal) and Joe Lamont (maternal). A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the South Hills Church, 3700 West 27th Avenue, Kennewick, WA. The interment will take place in their hometown in Reno, NV. I wept as I read this. My sincere condolences to his whole family. What a tragedy. I never met Daniel, but his father, Joe, is a remarkable and compassionate man who made my daughter's education possible and that of many other children with disabilities here in Washoe County.
