DENNIS STRINGER Obituary

Jan. 8, 1930 to Oct. 2, 2010

Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home

Dennis W. Stringer left us to go to his heavenly home on Saturday October 2, 2010. He is deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his father Paul, and mother Geraldine.

He is survived by his brother Roy Stringer of Anaheim, California and five children (David, Diane Judkins (Bruce), Geraldine, Thomas (Angie), and Robert), three grandchildren (William, Dennis and Nicole) all from the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas, along with his many friends.

He was born on Jan 8, 1930 in Hartley, TX. In his early teens he moved to Southern California. After graduation from High School he enlisted in the US Army, and served as a Medic Tech while stationed in Japan. He was enlisted from 1951 to 1953, and also served 3 years in the Army Reserves. He met and married Alice A. Beer in July 1956.

He held several jobs until he found his lifetime employer, the U.S. Postal Service. He worked for them from 1960 until his retirement in 1988. He held numerous positions while working for the USPS, but his favorite was as a window clerk assisting customers. It was at this capacity that he met many of the people who would later become his friends.

During his retirement he kept himself busy copper tooling, and roller skating. He helped many novices learn how to skate. He also enjoyed many hours of reading. He followed his family up to Tri-Cities, WA in 1995. He performed many hours of community service as a member of 'Team Read' at Edison Elementary tutoring kids to learn to read, as it was one of his favorite pastimes.

Dennis was a longtime, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served diligently in many church callings and assignments. Most notably, he loved serving in the Columbia River Temple and attended regularly with several close friends. He will be remembered fondly by members for his bright smile, which was projected consistently from the fourth row of the chapel. Dennis never missed an opportunity to share his strong testimony and love for his Savior.

He never knew a stranger, as he loved meeting, talking, and helping people. He also supported several Non-Profit organizations. His favorites were the Special Olympics, and the American Cancer Society. So in lieu of flowers please send your donations to one of his, or a charity of your choice.

His memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Kennewick East Stake) 515 S. Union, Kennewick, WA on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11 a.m.

Dave & Tom,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep you in my prayers through this difficult time. Your dads smile lit up the room and was contagious; such a positive and wonderful man.
I would see him off and on in the community and every time he would see me it was as if it was the first time we ever met; his smile melted my heart. That is what I remember so much of your dad.

God bless you and your family.
