DONALD TAYLOR Obituary


January 15, 1930-May 11, 2009

Kennewick, Wash.

Don Taylor passed away Monday May 11, 2009. He was born January 15, 1930, in Spokane, the son of Noel and Gladys Taylor.

Don is survived by two daughters, Carol Samoray and husband Roger of Kennewick; and Susan Pedersen and husband Lars of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; a sister, Pat Hunsberger and husband Wayne of Issaquah. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Alex, Elisabeth and Jacob Samoray and Claire and Ella Marie Pedersen. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, L. Claire Taylor, sister Mildred Taylor and two brothers, Harold and James (Jim) Taylor.

Don was a graduate of the University of Washington and held an advanced teaching degree from Eastern Washington University. He was an educator with the Spokane school system for many years and retired from Balboa Elementary School in 1980. He was also a devoted husband to his wife Claire, supporting her throughout her years of illness. Throughout his life he was an avid scholar who continued to educate and engage in vibrant discussions with those around him.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chaplaincy Hospice in Kennewick.

Arrangements are being handled by Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home of Kennewick. A private service is pending. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Spokane.
