Richland, Washington - Doris was born in Waitsburg, WA on July 24, 1926. She passed away August 29, 2022 at 96 years old in her home in Richland, WA with her daughter Jan and granddaughter Krysti at her side.
She didn't want an obituary full of all of the people that preceded her in death, and as a woman who lived much of her later years saying "I may have to grow old, but that doesn't mean I have to grow up" she didn't want us to be sad that she's gone, but rejoice that she lived.
Doris loved seeing the beauty in the world around her and enjoyed the times she was able to travel to foreign countries both as a tourist and through her church. She was creative and artistic, channeling many of her years into crafts like sewing, creating wedding cakes, cooking in her church's kitchen, oil painting, ceramics, and quilting.
She was blessed with 2 daughters that gave her 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and quite a few great-grand-animals. She was very proud of her small family and loved to share pictures whenever she could.
Of the many loved ones she lost over the years, her husband Ray passed away in November 1994, shortly after they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and she sadly lost her daughter Beverly almost exactly one year ago in September 2021.
She was a devout Christian, a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, great-aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. But, above all, she had a kind heart and was a genuinely good person. The love she brought into the world will be sorely missed.
A memorial gathering for her family and friends will be held Saturday, September 24th, 2022 from 1-3 pm at Central United Protestant Church in Richland.
