Edith Quigley Obituary

Richland, Wash.

Einan's Funeral Home

Edith V. Quigley was born on April 8th, 1916, in Prospect, VA, and died November 13, 2006, in Richland, WA.

Edith and her husband, Edwin J. Quigley, moved to Richland in 1944 to work on the Manhattan Project and lived in the Tri-Cities since then.

Edith was a Registered Nurse (graduating from the Silver Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Joliet, IL) and worked in nursing almost all of her life, not retiring until she was 78. Edith loved working as a nurse and was happiest when she was helping other people. She worked at Kadlec Medical Center for several years in the early '50s and worked at the Richland Clinic with Dr. Lih for 17 years and then with Dr. Ballman for 171Ú2 years.

Edith married Edwin Quigley on January 10th 1938 and their union was blessed with two children, Edwin Quigley Jr. and Elaine (Quigley) Davis.

Edith was an avid baseball and basketball fan and Richland Bomber supporter. The whole family traveled to all Bomber basketball games in the '50s and '60s and had reserved seats for home games until the mid 1990s. She also gave physicals to Richland High athletes during the summer for many years.

Edith loved living by the Columbia River in Richland and walked two to three miles along the river every day until she was in her 80's.

Her parents, her husband, Edwin Quigley, and seven of her nine brothers and sisters preceded Edith in death. Edith is survived by her brother, James Vaughan of Lynchburg, VA; her sister Annabelle Agee of Richmond, VA; her son, Edwin J. Quigley, Jr. of Salmon Beach, WA; her daughter, Elaine Davis (Charles) of Richland; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Edith's family would like to thank the staff at the Guardian Angel in Richland for their care and support during her last months and Dr. Eric Isaacson for his wonderful care over the past several years.

Public viewing will be at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15th. A memorial service will be held at Richland Lutheran Church on Thursday, November 16th at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of your choice.

Elaine and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Edith was such a ray of sunshine when we would go to see Dr. Ballman. I know she will be missed.
