Moles Family Funeral Homes & Crematory - Ferndale

Edwin Thiessen, 78, of Pasco, WA, formerly of Ferndale, WA, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, in Richland, WA. He was born January 23, 1931, in Pitt Meadows, B.C., to Henry and Martha (Luetke) Thiessen.

After graduating from Ferndale High School in 1949, he enlisted in the Army and served for three years, being stationed in Germany. He married Lea Jean Willet on June 1, 1956. Together they had three children, Kevin, Audrey Gayle, and JoAnn. They lived an adventurous life, making homes in Alaska, Iran, and Okanogan, and finally settling in the Tri-Cities in 1963.

Ed and his family were members of the Franklin County Saddle Club, and they loved their summer camping trips. He was a member of the Free Masons and the Shriners. After retiring from the Franklin County PUD, Ed was employed by the National Rural Electrical Cooperative Association, working for five years in Bangladesh. Upon returning, he began dabbling in real estate. Eventually, it became his way of life buying and selling property in and around the Tri-Cities.

His family was very important to him; he loved family reunions and telling all the stories of his childhood days.

He is survived by his two children, Kevin Thiessen (Martha) and Audrey Gayle Idler (Ken); two granddaughters, Brandy Kovis (Josh) and Lindsey Berg; and one great-grandson, Jaxon. He is also survived by his three sisters, Verna Rawlins, Tayna Bach, and Erma Smith; and one brother, Mervin Thiessen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lea Jean; his daughter, JoAnn; his parents; four brothers, Frank, Butch, Johnny, and Irvin; and two sisters, Anne Workentine and Vera Thiessen.

Services were held in Ferndale, WA, on Friday, July 31, and Memorial Services will also be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Pasco, WA, on Wednesday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Shriners Hospital, Children's Charity Fund, Inc., 911 W. 5th Ave., Spokane, WA 99204.

I will miss you Ed.

I knew Mr Thiessen from hanging out with Gayle back in the day and I saw Ed quite a few times down in the Assessor's Office always wheeling and dealing properties!!

My prayers are with the family. I will miss his smiling face, (yeah, when values were good)!!! I really enjoyed our chats. Hadn't seen Ed in a while, but not to say that I didn't think about him often.

Take care and God Bless.

Ken and him had many talks weekly about many things and probably solved all the world problems, according to their thories. Taco Tue. won't be the same. And the 5:00 cocktail hour will always be remembered. Love & Prayers, Weber's
