GARY STUMPH Obituary

GARY STUMPH Gary Stumph, 63, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Gary grew up in Tacoma, WA and graduated from Wilson High School in 1972. Gary was a proud Central Washington University Wildcat. He met the love of his life, Darlene Sowers Stumph, while attending CWU. Gary and Darlene married in 1978 and they put their roots down in Kennewick, WA and he resided there at the time of his death. Gary worked for Benton County PUD for 33 years and he often referred to them as his second family. He retired from there in February 2017. Gary enjoyed numerous team sports which led to a lifetime of friendships. He enjoyed traveling and vacations, especially his time with Darlene to the Oregon Coast. He had a passion for the hydroplane boat races on the Columbia river and spent 38 years attending and enjoying the boat race weekend with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of 39 years, siblings Dick (Jan), Denny (Mary), Janice (Walter) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joel & Ruth Stumph. Darlene and family would like to express their sincere thanks to Virginia Mason in Seattle. Gary received excellent care from the numerous physicians, nurses and staff over the past 3 months since his diagnosis. A memorial will be held at Canyon Lakes Golf Course Champions room, Kennewick, WA on Sunday, February 25, 2018 @ 1pm.

Gary was someone who always said "hi" with a smile on his face every day at Benton PUD. I worked with Gary for the 33 years I have been at the PUD, and Darlene was one of my children's teacher long long ago. My prayers go out to you and your family during this time. I was very saddened to hear about Gary. He was a GOOD man!

Thinking of you every day Buddy. Enjoyed all the time we spent since meeting in 1972

Gary circa 1994. He and I had been laughing so hard that day it is only fitting his eyes are squinted shut. You'll live forever in my heart, Stumph.
