HARRY CLODFELTER Obituary

HARRY EDWARD "ED" CLODFELTER Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home Harry Edward "Ed" Clodfelter, was the only child of Gilbert & Irene Clodfelter, born on November 13, 1943. Ed received his angel wings on October 11th, 2015 after battling pneumonia. As a young man, Ed helped his father on the family wheat farm. Ed was a hard worker and loved driving the tractors, trucks and all farm equipment. Due to the lack of Special Education programs, Ed never attended public schools. He learned to read and write his name in his late 30s. Reading on a first grade level, he independently read his first book at the age of 40. After selling the family farm, Ed moved to Clodfelter Meadows until entering into the Tri-Cities Residential Services program. Ed was a lifelong member of West Highlands United Methodist Church. He was active in both the social and spiritual life of the church. He faithfully attended Sunday morning worship, Sunday school class and the Nile social group. Ed loved to greet the people as they entered the church and also served as an usher for many years. He had a simple but unshakable faith that Christ would protect him and take him to see his parents when he passed. Ed proved by the way he lived his life that the handicapped and developmentally challenged can be active productive members of society. Ed was an avid Seattle Mariners & Seahawks fan. Ed went to Mariner games and was able to attend the Seahawks Super Bowl Parade in 2014. Ed was a traveling man. He loved choosing a location and planning the trip. Ed visited Disneyland, Disney World, Las Vegas, Sea World, and Universal Studios. He enjoyed many activities bead making, crossword & word search puzzles, and collecting cars. Ed had many different necklaces and bracelets which he loved to wear. Ed will be missed by all of his church family, longtime friend Jerry Cargo & his family, Tri-Cities Residential staff and The ARC of Tri-Cities. Ed had been a member with The ARC of Tri-Cities for many years. A heartfelt Thanks to the staff that, with love and understanding, provided Ed with the care, support and direction that allowed him to lead the happy active life he enjoyed. Viewing will be held Friday, October 23, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 24th, 11:00 a.m., at West Highlands United Methodist Church, 17 S. Union Street, Kennewick with burial to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. I was sorry to hear of Edward's passing. I was Edward's caregiver at Clodfelter Meadows. He was a favorite and long time resident in our family home.
