To the Bookwalter Family: Downey High, Modesto JC, and then UC Davis together spanned several years together with my friend Jerry. One of my earliest memories with Jerry was picking peaches in his fathers peach orchard. If a peach was too soft we would hurl them at each other. Early afternoon the heat became unbearable and we would exit the orchard to swim in the local canal.
Jerry, Dick Norquist and I roomed together at UC Davis in an elderly lady's converted detached garage. I remember her saying she could not remember 3 boys who could make such a mess of things. My wife, Vicki, and I also married as juniors while at UC Davis and spent wonderful times with Jerry/Jean. Our first born, Steve, and Terri were best of friends as one year olds. We both shared a love of agriculture. About the same time Jerry started his business we also started our company, Plant Sciences, Inc. - an agricultural consulting and berry breeding enterprise. Our journey together has only begun, see you in heaven.
