LANA MADSEN Obituary

Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home

Lana L. Madsen, age 70, passed away September 7, 2011, at her home in Richland. She was born September 12, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas.

Mrs. Madsen was a tremendous mother who raised 4 children. Her compassion ran very deep. She was a foster mother to 3 children and sponsored a Cambodian refugee family to come to the U.S.A. Having them in the home and helping them to learn English and assimilate until they could become self-sufficient brought great joy to her.

Lana was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and avid genealogist who was able to trace two lines back to Adam. She served in the Seattle Temple for 3 years until the Columbia River Temple was completed, and served there until her health would no longer allow it.

Lana is survived by her daughter, Susan (Jim) Johnston of Aledo, Texas; son, James (Tiffany) Madsen of Richland; daughter, Sharon (Ben) Gentry of Pasco; grandchildren, Heather, Amy, Tyler, Colin, Ashley, Courtney, McKenna, Lynn, Lacey, James, Noah, Katelyn and was preceded in death by son Samuel in 1997 and much beloved husband James in 2008.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 16, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kennewick Stake Center located at 895 Gage Blvd. in Richland. Viewing will be held Thursday, September 15, 2011, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, located at 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. Dedication of the grave will follow the services at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland on the bypass highway.
