Lois Ann Hanses
July 12, 1935 - April 9, 2023
Richland, Washington - Lois Ann (Loftus) Hanses of Pasco, passed away on April 9, 2023, at the age of 87. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Lois was blessed to have joined her husband Lambert in heaven on Easter Sunday.
Born on July 12, 1935, in Blackwell, OK, Lois was the 3rd of 4 children to Bernard James & Margaret (Tobin) Loftus. She graduated from Columbia High in Richland, WA in 1953. She participated in the pep club, student council and national honor society while attending Col High School and as the natural beauty that she was, Lois was part of the homecoming and prom royalty! After graduating, she worked for GE and supported the Hanford Project by working at the library in the 300 Area. Lois then relocated to Renfro, Oklahoma to provide support to the Tobin Family as a caregiver.
Lois returned to Richland in 1968 where she met Lambert Hanses at the Chancellor Club which was a group for single Catholics. The Catholic faith would remain a very important part of their lifelong love and dedication to one another. She became a farmer's wife when they married at St. Patrick's Church in Pasco on May 30, 1969. They raised four children, Cathy, Laura, Patrick, and Tara, together on the farm North of Pasco.
Lois enjoyed life as a strong Catholic parishioner. She sang in the choir at St. Paul's as well as belonging to multiple altar societies during her years in the St. Patrick's and St. Paul's parishes. Her charitable contributions included volunteering at the Our Lady of Lourdes gift shop along with her good friend Leona Inglima. She served on the Lourdes Foundation, helping to plan fund-raising events such as the Festival of Trees. Her 30+ years working with Lourdes made her a lifetime Auxilian. Lois also served four years on the Franklin County planning commission.
Lois was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well. She helped grandchildren make quilts and made them dish rags and other gifts with her skills. She was known for her love of coffee and sunflowers. Lois enjoyed collecting Santa figurines, teddy bears and angels and was ALWAYS up for some shopping with friends and family. She also enjoyed her "farm wives" lunches with the ladies from Franklin County.
Lois and Lambert bought a property in SunRiver, OR where they made great memories with their family. Lois loved to travel, but preferred to go by car, so she could bring home anything she found while shopping! She enjoyed a special friendship with her only sister, Connie. She and Lambert made semi-annual trips to Las Vegas as well as Ireland with Connie and her husband Les. Lois and Lambert were very blessed to go on a mission trip to the Holy Land.
Lois is survived in death by her four children- Cathy (Jack) Holzer of Pasco, WA, Laura Hanses (Steve Dinsdale) of Newport, WA, Patrick (Jill) Hanses of Pasco, WA, and Tara (Mike) Repp of Roy, WA; sister Connie (Les) Raschko of Las Vegas, NV, brother Pat Loftus of Kennewick, WA, and 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death and greeted in heaven by her husband Lambert, parents, and brother JV Loftus.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, April 20th at 6:00 pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco, with visitation beginning at 5:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 21st at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Pasco. Burial will follow at City View Cemetery in Pasco, with a luncheon provided by the St. Paul's and St. Pat's altar societies back at the St. Patrick's activity center afterwards.
Lois was a very generous women and in memory of her, we would invite any charitable contributions to be made to Chaplaincy Hospice Health Care or the Spokane Catholic Diocese.
Our family would like to thank the caregivers at Guardian Angel Homes Richland for the love and care they gave "Miss Lois" as they treated her like family for the last five years.
