MARIAN CORBETT Obituary

Einan's Funeral Home

Long-time West Richland resident, Jean Corbett, passed away quietly with all of her children beside her, Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She was born in Yakima, WA, on August 11, 1932, and spent her early childhood in Milton-Freewater. Later, her father moved his family to Richland, WA, to work on the Manhattan Project. Jean graduated from Richland (Columbia) High School, Slass of 1950 with a musical scholarship from sitting on First Chair in the orchestra.

She married Charles Vernon Corbett on November 3, 1951, and they had their first child the following August. Jean was a stay-at-home wife and mother, raising their five children. After her children were in school, she started working for retail stores until retiring from Kmart. During their younger years of marriage, they belonged to the Hill & Gulley Motorcycle Club. And she belonged to the Bethany United Protestant Church as a member, lead alto in the choir, and their treasurer. Later, she attended the NW United Protestant Church in Richland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and her parents, Martin W Bjur and Vivian G, Folsom Bjur.

Jean is survived by her children, Charlotte (Mel) Parker, Martin (Frankie) Corbett, Barbara (Andy) Moore, Charles Corbett Jr, and Craig Corbett. Also her grandchildren, Niki (John) Springer, Joey (Adria) Corbett, Brandon Johns, David Johns, Sue Ann (Josh) Pennington, Angie (Josh) Smith, Jolene (Josh) Rodriquez, Martin Jr. (Shannan) Corbett, and 12 great-grandchildren. Also, first cousin Mary McDill.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 3, at 3 p.m. at Einan's Funeral Home, with a graveside service following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Benton Franklin Humane Society. Family and friends will be gathering after the services at the Parkers' home, 1608 Riverside Drive, West Richland (5 p.m.) 967-3783.
