Our Beloved Mother and Wife, Marlene R. Mata, went home to our Lord and Savior on October 6, 2013, joining her brother and Father, Michael and Melvin Blanton. She was born in Lebanon, OR, on December 17th, 1955, to Maryetta and Melvin Blanton. Marlene married the love of her life, John Mata, on February 14, 1977, and remained married for 36 years.

Marlene sold Avon during Dental College, graduating in 1973. She sang in choir for church, weddings, and funerals. In High School she played football, was an excellent gymnast, and received a letter for excellence in sports and parallel bars. She loved camping at the beach and swam in the water no matter how cold. Marlene loved to organize a great party, encouraging family gatherings and memorialized holidays. She had a great sense of duty and commitment to everyone around her, volunteering her time and generosity to those in need. Nobody was a stranger to her, she loved everyone.

Marlene is survived by her Husband John Mata, sons Jon-Michael and Destin Mata, mother Maryetta Blanton, brothers Rodney Lee, Richard Niel, and Andrew Boyd Blanton.

Services will be at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court St., Pasco, WA, on Friday, October 11, 2013. The viewing will be held 12:00 p.m. to1:00 p.m., with funeral service at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment at the City View Cemetery in Pasco, WA. Potluck reception to follow at First Baptist Church, 1105 N. Rd 36, Pasco, WA. Please make any donations to First Baptist Church.
