Norma Conrad Obituary
Norma Conrad
March 7, 1940 - May 6, 2022
Richland , Washington - Norma Jean Conrad, Ne'e Hendricks, was a caring daughter, sister, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She left this work and made her journey to Heaven on May 6th, 2022 at the age of 82.
Norma was born to Charles and Doris Hendricks on March 7th, 1940, in Las animas, Colorado. During her teenage years, Norma, her parents, and her siblings Charles, Shirley, Ralph, and Linda moved to the Tri-Cities. Norma made Richland, Washington her home for over 70 years. During her time in Richland, she met her husband, Ronald Cecil Conrad, at a dance event on camp Hanford, where Ronald was stationed during his time in the U.S. Army. Together, they had two children, Mark and Michele.
While her children were growing up, she worked at J.J. Newberry's value mart and the famed Spudnut Shop. Norma was affectionately known as NaNa to her grandchildren Brian, Kyle, Kevin, Blake and Austin and to her great grandchildren Alexis, Charlotte and Landon. She greatly enjoyed spending time with all of them. Norma also ran a de-facto animal sanctuary out of her home where, over the years, she cared for nearly a zoo's worth of creatures. Both indoors and outdoors. The animals were truly in control. Norma also spent her time completing crafts, crosswords, word searches, embroidering, and arguing with/trying the patience of her son and daughter. Norma was an avid "Collector"and loved to shop, mainly for on sale/clearance items. Norma's cou de gras was trying her damnedest to fill every area of usable interior space of her home with "treasures". Norma achieved Fred Meyer jewelers VIP status and, as such, received calls for first dibs on the newly marked down items. Norma will truly be missed by the business. Most of all, Norma especially loved frequenting the casino, mainly Wild Horse, with her flourishing lucky blue dot and a full, fresh cache of her trademark "pocket bacon".
Norma is preceded in heaven by her husband Ronald, her brother Charles, her sister Linda, and her grandson Aaryn. Norma is survived by her son Mark and his partner Judy, her daughter Michelle and her husband Roy; grandchildren Bryan, and his wife Danielle, and their daughter Alexis; Kyle, his wife Whitney, and their children Charlotte and Landon; Kevin and granddaughter Danica; Blake and granddaughter Amy; and Austin. Norma is also survived by her sister Shirley, brother Ralph, his wife Melinda, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed most by the hordes of dismayed animals that no longer have a free ride.
We ask for those gifted in knowing Norma to please keep her in your thoughts to keep her memory alive.
We love you, NaNa. You will forever be in our hearts.
